The fast spread of COVID-19 reinforced the daily use of disinfectants and cleaners in household settings where awareness gaps may lead to health risks when misused. Cross-sectional studies were conducted to assess the community levels of awareness and performance towards disinfectants and household cleaners in Lebanon and UAE. Both communities showed lower levels of awareness than performance with a minimum of one irritation-to-poisoning symptom was claimed during the use of disinfectants and household cleaners. Higher levels of awarneess and performance with significant differences were detected among younger people, females, well-educated respondents and participants who had never been diagnosed with COVID-19.
