Description

Air pollution in Kathmandu, gained significant media attention. However, identifying clear factors and solutions remains elusive due to limited research funding. This study employs qualitative content analysis on 184 National newspaper articles from 2017 to 2022. The study categorized and coded article to identify air pollution causes, solution recommendations, and sources. Key causes include vehicular emissions, brick kilns, forest fires, and construction dust. study recognised multiple factors beyond electric vehicles as solution, to be effectively addressed by public policy interventions and transboundary collaboration including interdisciplinary stakeholders. Quantifying news-media role is essential in shaping perceptions, emphasizing the need for region-specific solutions.
