The unique role of environmental health field response in protecting public health during communicable disease emergency response is under-reported. In 2023, the Sydney Local Health District conducted a review of the unique skill and role of environmental health field operations in urban Sydney. Three case studies will be presented to detail the science in the field at each and to showcase the common themes for the core and transferable skills of environmental health field operations expertise across a diverse range of notifiable disease exposures in public health: 1. Elevated Blood Lead Levels; 2. Food Borne Illness; 3. Norovirus.
