Description

Kernow's Environmental Services Allergen Intervention Program was first implemented in 2019. The Program was initiated based on unsatisfactory food sampling results to improve allergen management and compliance outcomes in food businesses. Using a four-step intervention approach, Kernow’s EHP workforce provided focused allergen education to proprietors and food handlers during annual risk-assessments. The Program aimed to decrease rates of non-compliance with food allergen food safety standards, while improving the knowledge of those who can impact allergen safety and compliance. Baseline egg-allergen results data has been compared with egg-allergen data from 2023, with results influencing the future of Kernow’s Allergen Intervention Program.
