Description

The Health Promotion Service, North Metropolitan Health Service (NMHS) provides advice, support and leadership to local governments on Public Health Plans and health promotion interventions. One example is the City of Vincent’s (Vincent) Healthway funded Smoke-free Town Centre’s project. NMHS partnered with Vincent and Curtin University to develop and implement smoking behaviour audits and cigarette butt counts as one evaluation measure. Expert advice and/or support was sought prior from UWA, Edith Cowan, City of Melbourne and Quit Victoria. The presentation discusses the methodology, global trends, factors impacting behaviour change and advocates continued comprehensive tobacco control strategies.
