This study explored how stakeholders are addressing the needs of children with food allergies to enable their participation in Australia’s first state-wide School Lunch Project. A developmental qualitative evaluation approach included review of project documentation and stakeholder interviews/focus groups in 2022-2023. Five themes were developed; Allergen risk management, procedures/protocols, training/awareness, modified-recipes/menu planning by dietitians and accurate student allergy information from schools. Allergy management in schools is a complex public health, nutrition and environmental health issue. It requires collaboration, coordination and capacity building of stakeholders to safeguard students’ health and enhance equity of food access.
