Between 2021 & 2023 4 cases of the novel human pathogen Pantoea species were reported to Gold Coast Public Health Unit and found to be linked to invasive treatments at local medical practices. Both incidences were investigated and sampling results found lapses in infection control poliices and procedures with the office plants as the source of infection. This presentiation will explore the two investigations of the novel pathogen Pantoea sp from an EH perspective and spark discussion around plants in invasive medical environments, identify research gaps and highlight the implications of lapses in infecfion control policies/practrices in invasive medical settings
