Description

Household food insecurity is increasing in developed countries, so is inequality, despite the Sustainable Development Goal to achieve zero hunger. Disasters further stress already vulnerable families and their recovery takes a lot longer. “Food security exists when all people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient, safe and nutritious food for an active life.” Environmental health practitioners work across the food system and are privy to important intelligence needed to protect household food security. We will describe where the EH workforce is active and opportunities for further action to ensure public health for all.
